Slightly related, mau and i recently downloaded Super Mario Brothers for the Wii and i forgot how much i loved the music from this game (and how deep it was in the recesses of my brain.. i can still tell you where every hidden 1up is)... god.. all those classics were amazing... what was your favorite? How about the theme to castlevania III or even the original megaman.. and now that i am talking about those original songs, tell me you've heard about the minibosses

Katamari is a great game. so pointless, but adictive. I generally played games with the sound down and the stereo up, but that's a no can do with KD.
My favorite part is the little intro when you turn it on. I like the dancing red pandas
i love the entire premis of the game: the king of the universe gets fubared and while he is blacked out he accidently destroys the universe. plus he has rainbows come out of his ears!
I have to say that i thought i loved the music to Katamari until i had heard it 989898 times without actually playing the game...i may kill m soon....
to answer the question...mario is probably the only game i remember playing without other music on, but on a related video game/music topic, god did i have Mad World from that Gears of War commercial in my head for daaaays...
